Tale of Genji
A novel for piano and string orchestra
A journey through Japanese art and aesthetics, from the thousand-year-old Genji Monogatari.
This project for piano, orchestra and video is based on the ancient Japanese novel Genji Monogatari, written by a woman — Murasaki Shikibu — one thousand years ago.
Cesare Picco composed a journey through the spirit of Japanese art and aesthetics, playing the life and loves of Prince Genji. The show includes video with subtitles and off-stage voices in Japanese, reading extracts from the novel.
